Alcoholic Beverage Liability Training: Managers of Florida Hospitality Establishments, Online Training Format

Establishments granted the right to serve alcohol in Florida are closely regulated by the state, as well as by local, laws. When an establishment fails to serve alcohol responsibly, it risks not only the revocation of that right but also costly civil and administrative penalties; in some jurisdictions, managers and employees of the establishment may even be assessed criminal penalties. An establishment’s responsible alcohol service program must start with training that informs establishment managers of alcohol’s physical effects, explains the legal issues surrounding alcohol service, and teaches the correct procedures for serving patrons at all levels of intoxication. Managers must also be trained to respond appropriately to incidents of alcohol intoxication, including knowing the procedures for cutting off alcohol service, distinguishing between valid and phony forms of identification, and completing written incident reports when necessary.

recognize and respond appropriately to situations involving intoxicated patrons; and
